Same Game
Same Game is a puzzle game originally released for the Japanese FM7 and FM8 personal computers in 1985.
A Look at Same Game
The rules of the Same Game are extremely simple. Your task is to remove all the colored blocks from the playing field. In order to remove a block, the player must click on any block that stands next (vertically or horizontally) to another block of the same color. Thus, an entire chain of blocks of the same color will be destroyed. The blocks that were at the bottom at the same time will rise up, filling the vacant space. When the entire column is deleted, the columns on the right are shifted to the left, taking up an empty space. The game ends when the player has no more possible moves left. The goal of the game is to clear the board of colored blocks as quickly as possible.
Tips for Players
- Turn off notifications. Even a casual game session benefits from two minutes of undivided attention.
- Play a few complete rounds before looking up guides. Your own observations about the game's systems are more useful than generic advice written for someone else.
- Pay attention to what the scoring system rewards. Understanding the game's priorities helps you focus on the right actions.
- The first few levels are not throwaway. They calibrate your understanding of the game's physics and timing.
- Audio cues exist for a reason. Play with sound on at least once to learn what the game communicates through audio versus visuals.
- If there are multiple modes or difficulty levels, start on default. It is tuned for first-time players and gives you the experience the developer intended.
- Tap or click with intention. Random inputs might clear early levels, but they build bad habits that stall progress later.
